PRINTING
Prints are in limited editions of 250. Each print is hand-signed, titled, dated and numbered.
Long lasting value is ensured by the use of archival quality inks and paper, enhanced by a moisture, air-pollutant, finger-print and UV-resistant, finish spray coating.
Prints are produced using a widely accepted, state-of-the-art version of the printing method often referred to as giclee (pronounced “zhee-clay”) from the French language word gicler, meaning “to spray”.
Due to the thousands of subtle color variations that are possible with this giclee printing method, the resulting images are so close to the original paintings that the difference is nearly imperceptible.
Prints are produced one at a time on the Epson 8800, a computer driven, high resolution inkjet printer which sprays thousands of tiny dots of ink onto the paper, in rich color and sharp detail.
Initially, a small test print, or “proof” is produced on paper from a digital scan or photograph of the original painting.
I compare this proof against the original painting for accuracy of color and image.
If needed, the printer settings are adjusted and further proofs made, until the desired result is achieved.
The printer settings are then stored on computer disc and printing of the edition begins.
Unlike other printing methods, in which each successive print in the edition degrades further from the look of the original painting, this state of the art giclee printing method ensures that every print in the edition is identical. |
